Akash Ganga Trust Rain Centre is a not-for-profit service organization registered both with the Registrar of Cooperative Societies of the Tamil Nadu Government, as well as with the Income Tax department of the Government of India. On August 21, 2002, the trust launched Chennai's Rain Centre, inaugurated by the Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The Rain Centre, the first of its kind in the country, is a one-stop information and assistance centre on RWH. They aid in the construction, maintenance and inspection of RWH units. They offer free consultation and advice on setting up these units in residential as well institutional buildings and complexes. Since 2005, the Trust has also been involved in creating awareness about the importance of ecological sanitation, the ultimate in sanitation, in peri-urban and rural areas particularly among those living in coastal towns and villages.
